What is this blog about?

I have been preparing to facilitate a course for people who are in poverty to help them recognize and develop their resources. The course is called Getting Ahead In a Just-Gettin'-By World or GA for short. It was developed by Phil DeVol by utilizing Ruby Payne, Ph.D's framework for understanding poverty. I anticipate this to be an enriching project for myself and the participants, so I wanted to document and share my experience.

Delay

Our first session was supposed to be yesterday, but CC has been flooding, so we postponed it until next week.  The participants rely on public transportation as well as walking to where they need to be, so it seemed fair to just wait.  If only a few people showed up, we would have had to practically start over next week anyway.

Pam told me about the investigators at our meeting last week.  Looks like we've got a nice variety of age, gender and race.  Should keep things interesting.  Most of the investigators are living at Mission 911 for now and are super excited about this project.
